Cellulose acetate fibers are man-made or synthetic fibers manufactured from cellulose acetate by treating purified cotton fluff or high purity pulp with acetic anhydride. Cellulose acetate is used as a component in some coatings, as a film base in photography, and as a frame material for eyeglasses. Cellulose acetate is also used to manufacture playing cards and cigarette filters. Cellulose acetate fibers, based upon acetylation, can be classified as triacetate cellulose acetate fiber and diacetate cellulose acetate fiber.
