Personal care products or personal hygiene products are consumer goods used for beauty, personal care and, personal hygiene. These products vary from health and beauty care to toiletry and personal care. The major categories under these products include products for body care, skin care, hair care, products for the bath and products for the bedroom. A person uses different kinds of products according to his or her requirement. Some of the common personal care products include soaps, nail polish, nail sprays, lip products, cosmetics, shampoos, conditioners, hair sprays, deodorants, body washes, shaving creams, lotions, makeup, and perfumes, etc.
European countries such as the U.K and Germany witness high cosmetics and personal care expenditure. For instance, according to Cosmetics Europe, the personal care association, the European cosmetics and personal care market was valued at US$ 97.15 billion at retail sales price in 2019. The use of any personal care products should be done carefully to avoid any adverse or unexpected reaction. Some of the skin conditions like contact dermatitis, acne, eczema, dry skin, rosacea, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, pigmentations of the skin, birthmarks, melasma, rosacea and age spots may develop due to the use of some cosmetics. Therefore, proper precaution should be taken while using some cosmetics. Some cosmetics can also cause allergic reactions like rashes, swelling of the face, itching sensation, redness, bumps and blotches, etc. If you are suffering from any of the above skin problems, do not use the product for a certain duration.
It is very important to read the label of ingredients before selecting any product. All the personal care products, which we have mentioned above, contain some ingredients, which you must be allergic to. If you are allergic to any of these ingredients, you should not use the product. If you act would like to use a product, but you are not aware of the ingredients, it is advisable to consult a doctor or a skin therapist, who can guide you about the composition of the product.
