Fluoroscopy and C-Arm Market to Expand as Healthcare Professionals Embrace Fluoroscopic C-Arms

Fluoroscopy and C-Arm Market

The fluoroscopy and C-arm market in the U.S is growing at a rapid pace. This popularity is likely to continue as several different imaging modalities become more widespread. Currently there are C-arms and fluoroscopes that can be used for a variety of different procedures. These imaging systems have many benefits over older models, which makes them more attractive to the general public. However, before discussing the various C-arm models that are available on the market, it is important to gain an understanding of the basic function of the fluoroscopic C-arm models.

Fluoroscopy is a form of diagnostic surgery that enables radiologists to see into the body during a minimally invasive procedure. C-arm fluoroscopy is available for both adults and children through different companies. Fluoroscopy is primarily used for newborn babies and children to identify abnormalities, such as cleft palate skin, within the mouth.
The fluoroscopy and C-arm market is expected to continue to expand as other healthcare professionals embrace fluoroscopic c-arms. The C-arm industry is currently seeing growth in India, where many facilities use fluoroscopy imaging in conjunction with traditional c-arm operations. In India, many hospitals incorporate fluoroscopy imaging as part of their standard procedures.
Ultrasound guided C-arm systems are ideal for teaching and research settings as they do not require visualization for patients. These systems allow patients to view a moving image on a computer monitor and key information can then be viewed and accessed using voice commands. This is the ideal system for use in teaching facilities as it allows for the teaching resource to interact directly with the patient and teaches them procedures rather than providing textual descriptions.

Fluoroscopy and C-arm equipment are also being developed for use in the workplace, in educational institutions, hospice care units, pilots training facilities, museums and laboratories and medical research facilities. Currently there are two major types of flexible C-arm technology available in the UK. The first is the flexible camera and display combination systems and the second is remotely operated fluoroscopy C-arms. Both systems have been designed to save space and transportable meaning they are ideal for use in a range of work environments where there is limited floor space and where access to a fluoroscopy unit may be limited or the patient may be uncomfortable due to visualization.
