Smoked Eel Is One of the Most Common Fish Dishes Because It Is Low-Cost and Easy-to-Prepare and Doesn't Require Any Special Preparation

 



Smoked Eel is one of the most popular delicacies in the world and is heavily consumed in regions such as the U.S., U.K., Italy, and Asia Pacific regions. The eel has been savored and eaten for centuries already. They are small, colored eels that are naturally darkish gray. The eel is a delicacy as it is succulent, tasty, and fulfilling.
There are several varieties of smoked eels available in the market today. The ones that can be usually found are the ones from northern Thailand. The best part about them all is that they are not too expensive. They can be cooked at home without any difficulties and do not require anything special.
This makes it the easiest fish to prepare and cook. Some would even say that preparing smoked eel is like making new cuisines as they do not cost so much. One can even prepare smoked eel and cook their favorite dishes using this fish and do so at home.
Smoked eels can be found in several places around the world. In Bangkok, they offer various types of this smoked eel in their restaurants and also in street stalls along the sidewalk. Sometimes, they are even sold in the markets. In Phuket, individuals can find several vendors selling smoked eels in some of their roadside eateries. Smoked eel is available and consumed greatly in the U.S. regions too since the fish consumption rate is higher there. For instance, according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the fish consumption rate in the U.S. in 2018 was approximately 16.1 pounds.

The smoked eel can either be halved or whole. Halved eel is marinated in salt and spices before being smoked. The whole eel is where the membrane is completely removed and the fish is left with its natural splendor. It is better however to purchase the whole piece to avoid any complications later on. When purchasing the eel, individuals should make sure that the salt content is high enough so that the fish maintains its splendor when it is smoked. The smoked eel can be served as a starter course or a main course too.
