Restrictions imposed by the Environmental Protection Agency limit the amount of Ethylene used in various processes

 

Ethylene is an organic compound that has the chemical formula C 4 H 8. Ethanol is made from ethylene and water. This means that ethylene can only be produced by using water, which means that it is one of the main sources of energy in our society. Ethylene can also be used in the formation of polymers and plastics.

The most common form of ethylene is Ethylene Oxide. This is the compound that is derived from the ethylene gas that is produced from the burning of petroleum. While some sources of ethylene are used in environmentally friendly ways, other uses can damage the environment and may be considered to be inappropriate by the EPA.
