Bioidentical hormones are defined as man-made hormones that are very similar to the hormones produced by the human body.

Bio-identical hormones market

Bio-identical hormones are hormones that have been biochemically created to mimic hormones produced by the human body through normal biological processes. Some of the most prevalent hormones that are synthesised artificially are oestrogen, progesterone, and testosterone.

Hormone levels in the body, such as oestrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, decrease with age, resulting in menopausal symptoms in females such as hot flashes, weight gain, and vaginal pain due to sexual intercourse, vaginal dryness, night sweats, and mood swings. Low testosterone levels in men can lead to erectile dysfunction and decreased bone density. Bio-identical hormones are used to treat men and women who have low or unbalanced hormone levels.Bio-identical hormones work by replacing natural hormones and increasing hormonal levels in the body. This is known as bio-identical hormone replacement treatment (BHRT). Bio-identical hormones are available in tablet, cream, patch, gel, injectable, and implant forms.

Bioidentical hormones are man-made hormones that are chemically identical to the hormones produced by the human body. Hormones that are commonly matched are oestrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. These are then used to treat men and women whose hormone levels are low or out of balance. A pharmaceutical business manufactures some prescription types of bioidentical hormones. Other versions are created to order by a pharmacist based on a doctor's prescription. This is known as compounding. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved many bioidentical estradiol and progesterone preparations that are molecularly identical to the structure of the hormones produced by the human body. They have been tested for safety and purity, as well as to ensure that each dose has the same amount of hormones. The FDA has not tested or authorised the compounded formulations. Though it is frequently touted that items manufactured from plants such as soybeans and yams are "natural," they are considerably transformed in a lab and are no longer natural when processed. Both FDA-approved and compounded hormones are available in a variety of dosages and modes of administration (pills, creams, gels, sprays, and vaginal inserts).
