First aid kits are extensively used in gyms, recreational centers, vehicles, offices, schools, and homes to manage unexpected injuries. First aid kits are one of the most commonly used medical accessories in public and private healthcare facilities, as well as home care settings. First aid is as easy as ABC; airway, breathing, and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). When it comes to first aid, there are three P's to remember; preserve life, prevent deterioration, and promote recovery. First aid is important for a number of situations that don't require a trip to the hospital or emergency room.
These situations include allergic reactions, burns, bee stings, minor falls, and other common accidents. A first aid kit is helpful for these types of situations. A first aid kit contains a wide variety of equipment such as splits, elastic wraps, gloves, tweezers, scissors, cotton, antiseptics, wound cleaning agents, bandages, and more. Moreover, a first aid kit contains certain drugs such as antihistamines, pain killers, and rehydration salts in addition to the aforementioned medical equipment. However, first aid kits may not contain prescription or over-the-counter medications such as decongestants, Ibuprofen, aspirin, etc. as these drugs are not first aid items.
First aid kits are considered to be a collection of supplies and equipment used to deliver medical treatment in an emergency. Medical first aid kits are designed to provide basic care to those in need. Medical kits are available in different shapes, sizes, and capacities and these determine the user’s personal requirements. With the increasing government rules/regulation for health and safety at the workplace, the demand for first aid kits is also increasing with a rapid pace. First aid kits are widely produced and sold worldwide, especially in Germany, Japan, and the United States. Europe is the largest consumption market of first aid kits worldwide.
According to the Health and Safety Executive, a UK government agency, workplaces should have an adequate amount of fully equipped first aid kits.
