Disposable blood bags

Disposable blood bags have been an integral part of emergency medical services since their first conception. Since then, the technology and design of these bags have improved to provide better patient care. With the advancements in technology, the components of the bag are now much more advanced and versatile. The traditional components have also been improved to accommodate the ever-changing needs of blood collection and treatment. With this in mind, the new disposable blood collection bags that are being manufactured today have some very important upgrades and enhancements, making them one of the highest quality products in the market.
The disposable blood bags consist of two main components. The primary component of the bag consists of the plastic vial that houses the biological product. The plastic vial is typically made of thermoplastic, thermoset polymers, and other thermoplastics. The other component of the disposable blood bag comprises an exterior surface that is designed to collect human blood from the various sampling sites and also contains an interior liner that can be sealed to prevent contamination during the collection process.
The plastic bag that houses the blood collection components is known as the transfusion bag and the inner lining is usually composed of polystyrene or polyurethane foams. The other components of the disposable blood bag include the cannula and the suction plunger. The cannula is a flexible, light-bodied needle that is used to puncture the skin to collect a small amount of blood from the different sampling sites and the suction plunger is a long tube that is employed in order to draw out a small amount of blood from the needle. Blood is generally drawn from the site on the skin with the aid of the suction plunger by opening up the top half of the cannula and drawing blood into the syringe. This whole process of blood collection delivery is referred to as venipuncture.

There are several manufacturers of disposable blood bags that include, Poly Medicure Limited, Grifols, S.A., Macopharma, Fresenius Kabi India Pvt. Ltd., and others. Demand for these bags is increasing with the emergence of Covid-19. In the U.S., from 3 January 2020 to 5:16pm CEST, 28 April 2021, there have been 31,783,375 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 567,327 deaths, as reported to the World Health Organization.
