What are different animal feed additives available at present and why they are gaining so much attention?

Animal feed additives are used to enhance the nutritional value of commercial or domestic livestock feeds, and usually contain substances that are made from meat, fish, or poultry. Feed additives can be natural or artificial. Synthetic feed additives are more common because these do not require the use of chemicals and other preservatives
A common chemical feed additive is lysine. This is a substance that prevents bacteria from thriving in uneaten meat or poultry droppings. It also prevents the growth of bacteria in wet areas such as stalls where animals are kept overnight. It is commonly used in poultry farms, cattle farms, and chicken farms.
Another common animal feed additives that is widely used is zinc. This is a valuable nutritional supplement that can be used to improve the production of proteins in animal feeds. It has been found to increase the growth of leaner animals and decrease the fat content of obese animals. In addition, it can be used to protect against bacterial infections that occur when antibiotics are used on sick animals. Zinc is produced naturally in the body and is found in many common foods.

Bovine Growth Hormone (BGH), a naturally occurring hormone, is another popular animal feed additive. It is found in high levels in dairy cows and is recommended for younger cattle.
