DRM is most commonly used in the media and entertainment industry owing to the growing number of media and entertainment companies, its wide online dispersion, and the high volume of the content generated, which increases the demand for enhanced control over audios, videos, and images from multiple sources.

Moreover, the outbreak of COVID-19 has led to increased demand for digital rights management software in the media and entertainment sector. Streaming services are being used by people for entertainment, which increases the traffic load on the network. For instance, the U.S. based OTT platform, Netflix has seen subscriber numbers surge during the pandemic, around 16 million people created accounts in the first three months of 2020, according to the company. The increasing demand for high network connectivity is increasing the demand for digital rights management.
